The Asbestos Comeback | May Lead To Increased Cases of Mesothelioma

Under the Trump Administration’s EPA, asbestos could make a strong comeback.

Asbestos was a popular material for building insulation in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s due to its heat and fire resistance properties.

Once it was found to be dangerous when inhaled, the building industry moved away from utilizing it. Although it wasn’t banned, in the 70’s the EPA deemed it a hazardous air pollutant and forbid its use in many applications.

When inhaled, asbestos can cause mesothelioma, which is a cancer and an incurable condition. A tumor occurs in the tissue that line the lungs, heart, stomach or other organs. The symptoms include coughing and severe chest pain.

Another condition asbestos inhalation can cause is asbestosis. This is a lung disease marked by fibrosis and can cause mesothelioma.

If the Trump administrations allows asbestos to make a comeback, an increase in people developing mesothelioma or asbestosis as a result of exposure to asbestos could occur. If that happens, people who are exposed and diagnosed with the conditions can file mesothelioma claims for compensation.

Victims or family members can file:

1) A worker’s compensation lawsuit
2) A corporate trust lawsuit or a personal injury lawsuit
3) Surviving family members can also file wrongful death lawsuits if their loved ones pass away from the diseases

What the two most important steps before filing a lawsuit?

1) Seek immediate medical attention for your ailments
2) Consult with an experienced personal injury attorney

Victims and family members may be entitled to compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, lost earning potential, pain and suffering and more.

Check your state’s statute of limitations or consult with an attorney immediately to ensure that you can file your claim.
