An appellate panel decided that a Utah nursing home was liable and must pay the $1.4 million medical malpractice verdict because their nurse negligently gave the wrong medication to a patient, causing an overdose death, and then, according to the lawsuit, attempted to conceal the mistake by falsifying the medical records.

The nursing home’s attorney stated they will be filing an appeal with the Supreme Court.
